A Man Spends 17years In Jail Cause He Looked Like The Criminal That Committed The Crime
Richard Jones jailed for armed robbery in 1999 is seeking nearly $1million in compensation after police found his criminal lookalike.
He was released last year after a judge called into question his original conviction. He had spent 17 years in prison because an eyewitness said he was the robber.
Jones lives on the other side of Kansas while his lookalike lived near where the robbery took place. It later turned out there was no DNA or fingerprint evidence linking Jones to the crime.
He has now filed a petition seeking $1million in compensation from the state of Kansas.
That's very sad, The Police needs to be extra careful next time.
