Be Prepared.

Be Prepared.

I have as you must have read or seen, it has been written or said " do not live a competitive life or  lifestyle or better put "that life is not about competition". But to me this statement is incomplete....

The truth, as you will acknowledge is that everything on the face of the earth is and in a competition, from the oxygen we breathe in, to the commodities and consumables we strive to acquire, even to the smallest micro-organism that is racing for food, against bacteria, fungus and virus that may want to snuff it out, destroying the body. We have companies vying for market share, football clubs buying the best players so they are strong enough to get the ultimate price, the CUP and etcetera. I'll will narrate a short scene to back this up. Please, Stay with me.

Quick question, In a fight between a praying mantis and a snake, who will emerge as the victor, you probably pick the snake right? WRONG, some might probably be thinking, why will a snake be entangled with an insect in the first place? But life is so unpredictable, as I watched this shocking video of how an insect vacuumed the snake's gut.

The praying mantis stood motionless on the remaining undecomposed part of a fallen tree, as the reptile crawled towards it. Sighting the snake, the insect stood straight on it hind limbs, extended it fore limbs (composed of spines) which is it's major arsenal . As soon as the snake came close, the mantis tried to grab it with her fore limbs, the snake was evasive for a few times but the mantis was adamant, before you could say jack the snake was trapped in the claws and no matter what, regardless  of the twisting and coiling, the snake could not free itself. I noticed that the mantis extended the length between each grip, giving it a wide grip coverage, one claw holding the snake by the neck and the other, the midsection. I expected the snake to put up a ferocious battle but the slithering rope just wasn't just ready for a fight for her life (or maybe the mantis had cut off the adrenaline supply when it gripped her by the neck), more so a whip of its tail, constriction or bite (assuming the snake was a constrictor or a venomous snake) could have taken out the insect easily. Sadly and summarily the mantis sucked the guts of the snake four times its length.

From what I figured, the snake wasn't ready to live, I mean it just didn't make any effort to fight for her life, one of the best hunters on the planet was eaten not by another animal of greater or equal power but by an insect (another ferocious hunter). Don't get me wrong, praying mantises are also crazy bugs, feeding on small lizards, birds and even its own kind (other smaller mantises) but seeing the mantis take an unbelievable step and coming out as the winner with a fuller stomach is bewildering. As I rewatched the video, I deduced that the snake was probably crawling along the forest or going for a hunt (not going for the mantis), before been caught between the spines, the reptile only tried to elude the insect even after it was caught, no offence & no defence only flight but the mantis in her right was just waiting for a prey to come between her radar and bang, grabbed her and dessert was ready.

You might be like the snake, not looking for trouble, minding your business or enjoying the forest breeze (no competition, no stress, living life without fuss) but does your neighbor have the same idea? (Not only referring to the neighbors next door but to the human populace upon the face of the earth, to every human still breathing). It might not probably be physical or spiritual confrontation, but it could be in skills acquisition, knowledge acquisition, networks, networth.

As our needs increase daily, it is certain that it will never be met totally less alone be enough for everyone on the planet. So on the long run, this is what I have been ranting about: build your defense and offense system, protect your turf, provide for your love ones, help people but be cautious too, develop healthy physical, mental and spiritual living, watch out for diseases and vectors. Be at code RED, never let your defense down, anything or anyone could snuff you out, end your dreams and should in case you get stuck, never ever give up like the snake.
Should incase you get caught, use all in your power to get out of the grip of the enemy because there is high tendecy you are going to walk into it or he will come for you. Always Be prepared. Everyday you live, you are competing for almost everything. You're in a competition.

Tis a great day
