Samsung Foldable Galaxy F Phone Leaked (Video)
We are all waiting for the first Samsung foldable phone which is rumoured to be called Galaxy F, Galaxy Flex or Galaxy Fold. Fans don't no the real name yet.
Samsung's foldable phone has been rumoured to be coming for years. In 2017, there were reports suggesting we would see it at IFA 2017. But surprise, surprise, that never happened. Since then, we've head murmurings that the device will finally make its full debut at Mobile World Congress 2019.
In terms of specs, the Samsung Galaxy F, we can be pretty sure it’ll be a 7.3-inch flexible OLED screen that can unfold to form a medium-sized tablet. Samsung didn’t confirm whether the external display would be the reported 4.6-inches in size.
Beyond that, we’re still in the dark. It could come with an Exynos 9810/Snapdragon 845 CPU and at least 6GB of RAM.
Samsung made no mention of Corning Gorilla Glass being present during the SDC keynote. According to a September report from ET News, the Samsung Galaxy F would arrive without it The firm reportedly plans to use a transparent polymer from Sumitomo Chemical of Japan instead. This move would assuredly make the display more susceptible to bumps and spills, but would enable Samsung’s long-held ambitions to finally come to fruition.
Samsung SDI managed to build a foldable battery four years ago, but that only had a 210mAh capacity. Fortunately, the subsidiary is said to be getting close to developing one that could realistically power a smartphone.
Samsung is reported to be more interested in being the first to bring a foldable smartphone to market, rather than focusing on sales though. Koh suggested the foldable phone's launch is imminent, noting Samsung doesn't "want to lose the world's-first title", which means that while we think an MWC launch is perhaps a little optimistic, it is possible, even though it won't get that title now after Royole launched a foldable phone at CES 2019.
A teaser video that Samsung will probably show during the keynote gives us our first look at the Galaxy F foldable phone, which is also supposed to receive a proper announcement at the show. Perhaps even more interestingly, the video teases other Samsung innovations that may be in the pipeline for the near future.
The video suggests the device will be thinner than we expected. Back in early November when Samsung unveiled the Infinity Flex display and One UI user interface in anticipation of the Galaxy F launch, the company showed us a foldable phone prototype in a bulky case, which suggested the phone could be thicker than other Galaxy phones.
This newly leaked video, which was accidentally posted by Samsung Vietnam before being removed, also suggests the external display will be bigger than expected with tiny bezels. Here’s a look at the prototype Samsung showed in November, which has an external display that is smaller than the one in the video.

Whether the Galaxy F device featured in the clip is real or just a digital render, there is one thing about it that’s strange. The external display stays on even though the user just opened it. I’d assume the external display would go dark when the handset is unfolded. Let’s look at it again:
Samsung showed other interesting concepts in the clip, including a Minority Report-like interface for interacting with computers.

Also, the company featured a portable ultrasound device that could be used together with a mobile device for quick sonograms.
Finally, we also have a phone that may be a concept for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S10 Lite handset, which should have a flat screen. The image below is pretty blurry because that sequence is kind of fast. Samsung is teasing advanced AR features for its phones, that would support Pokemon-like multiplayer games.
The release date February 20, 2019 not official.
